Lead a Squadron

Well well well! Welcome to the big leagues.

Every HPP requires a Squadron (team) which will take care of developing the product. To lead a Squadron you need to be a Rebel recognized by the Alliance or have your own bag of $UBI to pay to your Squadron. This means that HPPs that receive acceptance from the community, as well as funds from the @Fundraiser, require at least one Rebel in their team. This will increase the chances of a product being delivered and the proper management of public funds.

The leader of a Human Product Proposal (HPP) will bear the responsibility of seeing it through from start to finish -through the good, the bad, and the ugly. As emphasized in our code of conduct we prioritize delivering at all costs. This often means the Squadron's lead needs to go above and beyond to make sure all gaps are filled.

All contributions to your team will be rewarded with an exclusive skill badge from the UBI Rebel Alliance. Please follow the guidelines on how to recognize your colleagues in their work [Link]. To lead a HPP, please do the following:

  1. Ensure you have finalized the process of either HPP (Discord) or HIP (PoH DAO).

  2. Find a Product Owner and a Project Manager. The first is responsible for defining the product roadmap, interfacing with the clients/stakeholders, and performing market research. The second is responsible for finding and coordinating the team, defining the scope of product features with the Product Owner, as well as defining the budget and timeline.

Most likely if you proposed the idea, then you will be the Product Owner, whichever the case, if you wish to perform these aspects yourself, please self-assign the role of choice.

  3. Signal that you are leading the HPP by posting in the Alliance HQ (Discord) #chat-general channel tagging a @Assistant.

  4. Establish a Scope of Work for the HPP. This task is generally handled by Product Owners or Project Managers, in the case you are one of these, please ensure a timeline, scope, and budget that are properly laid out to ensure expectations are aligned. A template for this can be found here: https://github.com/UBI-Rebel-Alliance/Alliance-HQ/blob/master/Templates/Proposal.md

  5. Ask an @Assistant to create for you a Squadron Channel with both a Squadron-chat and a Client-chat subchannels.

  6. Using the Discord channel#Oportunidades de Contribución (Contribution opportunities) tag the relevant roles needed for the project, such as Designer, Legal, Back-End Dev, Front-End Dev, Smart Contract Dev, or any other with the specialization you need. These are roles represent people willing to contribute from part to full-time commitment. If you are looking for someone for performing single tasks signalize it by naming the request as a #Bounty.

  7. Bring your client onboard. Send him/her/they the invitation to your Client-subchannel.

  8. If you are receiving funds for your project, you will need to set up a Gnosis Safe Multisig Wallet for your Squadron Members. This ensures that funding can be allocated and distributed with consensus from all participants.

  9. We also recommend using the Smart Invoice to facilitate payments from your client.

How much should you pay the members involved in developing the project? You decide, however, we promote a self-negotiation model where every member tells you how much they value their work, entering into a quick back-and-forth negotiation with you or the client, and from there you make your budget.

It is to be noted that all projects accessing funds from the Alliance are required to deposit, in advance, 5% of the total budget to the Humanitarian Yearn Vaults
